NEW QUEER ART BOOK EXPANDS THE ARTISTIC MISSION OF UPSTATE NEW YORK’S DREAM BROTHER GALLERY.

VISION TWO SHOWCASES EIGHT CONTEMPORARY LGBTQIA+ ARTISTS.

(Hudson, New York) — This past summer, DREAM BROTHER GALLERY opened THE BACK ROOM, a new queer brick-and-mortar experience in Hudson, New York.

Dream Brother Gallery continues its mission of creating and nurturing queer community with the release of VISION TWO, the second volume of its queer art book series. VISION TWO, the sophomore installment of the limited-run book series, showcases solo exhibitions from eight contemporary LGBTQIA+ artists. They are Ana Benaroya, Zach Brunner, ggggrimes, Blake Gildaphish, Sedgwick Guth, Mazahir Hussain, Juanita MORE!, and Pansy Ass Ceramics. The book’s foreword is by Michelle Tea. VISION is a Dream Brother Gallery publication series dedicated to showcasing work and generating funds for working queer artists. Unlike other art publications, sales from VISION directly compensate all participating artists.

VISION is Dream Brother’s bound and brazen beating heart - a bold living document of queer ancestors dancing with their descendants through exhibition of contemporary queer artists interspersed with the vitality and veracity of the queer mind through written word. VISION reflects queer histories and futures while centered in the immediate ache and rebellion of the present. With the initial printing efforts for each volume of VISION shunned by local print shops on both coasts, the resonance of VISION's mission only vibrates louder - unapologetic queer art to inspire and incite, with direct compensation to participating artists and their causes.

Focused on independently published books and art, Dream Brother Gallery’s THE BACK ROOM in Hudson, New York, is home to the work of over fifty LGBTQIA+ artists and publishers.

It is the only explicitly queer bookstore between Manhattan & Albany.

Complementing the retail space, Dream Brother also hosts ongoing community events including Queer Ass Film Club, a twice-monthly screening of seminal queer cinema, and regular figure drawing sessions in the event space.

Three years ago, COVID realities shuttered the beloved Dream Brother Gallery gallery/event space in Los Angeles. Yet Dream Brother remains steadfast in its mission of showcasing and supporting transgressive and visionary queer artists. Defying the current climate of queer censorship across social media, and a steady loss of physical gathering spaces, Dream Brother Gallery continues to create space for LGBTQIA+ community to gather and for artists to thrive.
